Methodology and Process Analysis

In assessing new methodologies, many people get caught up in the hype. Sure, new methodologies are important, but what is more important is for you to figure out what methodology is best for YOUR business.

The honest truth is that sometimes the best methodology for your business is a blend of several styles. Very seldom does a methodology work in an organization without tweaks for the type of industry, type of product, and the culture and people in the organization.

As far as processes, we’ve seen extensive processes defined but upon further analysis, we find out that the process isn’t actually being used by the people in the process.

This happens for a few reasons:

  • The people affected by the process weren’t involved in the process of defining the process.
  • The process is too rigid for real life.
  • The process was defined by someone that didn’t understand the full situation.
  • The process actually made people’s jobs more difficult and harder to perform.
  • There was no change management in place to help people accept the new process.

We’ve had experience with many different methodologies and have defined and charted many processes.  We’ve worked with SDLC, RAD, Agile, Prototyping, Iterative development, and a few others.  All methodolgies have their pluses and minuses and we can help you figure out the best way to implement them in your organization.

We can help you by:

  • Analyzing your current Methodologies and Processes
    • We observe, interview, and document current processes
  • Defining and documenting new processes
    • Working with your team to iron out the improved processes
  • Matching a Methodology with your team
    • We work with you to select an appropriate methodology
  • Customizing the Methodology to work in your environment
    • We work with you to custom and document the new methodology
  • Provide Change Management with your team
    • We work with your team to help ease the process of change
  • Pilot Program
    • We work with the team on a pilot project to test the new methodology

Overall, we spend time with your team to work through the issues of adopting a new methodology or process. We make sure that there is acceptance and that the change is a success.
